CTTC Ski Trip to Sportswelt/Amade - Austria 2017

On Friday 17th February, 73 students in years 8 through to 13 and 9 teachers from Chase Terrace departed for their annual ski trip. The 24 hour journey to Sportswelt-Amade, Austria was relatively pain free with the students and staff in high spirits. The coaches this year were excellent and provided as much comfort as possible with entertainment provided by Mr Flint’s sing-along sessions and the legendary Mighty Ducks DVDs.

The youth hostel style accommodation that we had this year afforded the students the opportunity to share rooms in larger numbers and presented the first real challenge of the trip – making your own bed!! The self-service style catering allowed the students to take more responsibility for their meals. The quality of food this year was excellent, both on and off the slopes which ensured students had the energy for the main attraction: Skiing. The students skied for 4 hours each day; accompanied by first rate ski instructors who’s energy, knowledge and ability to communicate were fantastic. We had 7 ski groups this year; ranging from a top group which continued to push the boundaries of their abilities and ski equipment! We had middle groups of students who had skied before who continued to make excellent progress whilst making lots of time for fun on the slopes. We also had approximately 25 beginner skiers who all made fantastic progress to the point where all were able to confidently ski the majority of the runs available in the area. Evening entertainment were also a big hit including: ice skating, pizza, quiz night, table tennis/table football competitions and a ski presentation hosted by the ski instructors.

It was clear the students had a fantastic week away, and we as staff look forward to next year’s trip where we will hopefully have many new and returning skiers. A final thank you to Mr Chamberlin for organising another exceptional ski trip.
